2 people died following a fiery, high-speed crash on 405 Freeway in Seal Beach; DUI suspected (Seal Beach, CA)

A fiery, high-speed crash on the 405 Freeway in Seal Beach late Saturday claimed the lives of two people while a 39-year-old Garden Grove man was being investigated for allegedly driving under the influence.

Oscar Anguiano was rushed to UCI Medical Center with major injuries following the car accident. As of Sunday afternoon, it was not known if he was in police custody yet or still recovering. Booking information for Anguiano was not available following the wreck. Authorities believe that Anguiano might have been impaired while driving a 2014 Volkswagen that crashed into a 2000 Honda on the southbound 405 near Seal Beach Boulevard just before 11:51 p.m. Saturday.

Anguiano was reportedly driving the Volkswagen at a high rate of speed just prior to the collision. The Honda had burst into flames due to the crash. Both victims in the Honda succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The extent of Anguiano’s injuries is unknown at this time. The southbound side of the 405 was closed down for hours late Saturday into Sunday morning. All lanes were opened again to traffic at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday after the scene was cleared. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
