On Thursday morning, the Rialto Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 3500 block of North Riverside Avenue at 3 a.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were found at the location, with both drivers suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Police said 22-year-old Melissa Jacqueline Castillo died at the scene. Another victim Crystaline Joy Barile Bendo, 31, died because of her injuries at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
A preliminary investigation reveals Castillo was speeding on Riverside Avenue when she tried to overtake a tractor-trailer by crossing the double yellow lines.
Castillo crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with Bendo’s vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
