2 people died, 2 others injured after a head-on collision on Grimes Canyon Road near Highway 118 (Los Angeles, CA)

Two people lost their lives and two others were hospitalized after a head-on collision Monday afternoon on Grimes Canyon Road near Highway 118.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place at about 3:00 p.m. on Grimes Canyon Road, north of Highway 118. The preliminary reports showed that a Toyota sedan and a semi towing a dump trailer crashed head-on into each other for unknown reasons. The reports also revealed that one of the vehicles had caught fire due to the crash.

Two occupants of the Toyota were declared deceased at the scene by the officials. Firefighters had to use using the Jaws of Life to free a third person from the Toyota. That person was then rushed to a hospital with major injuries. The semi-driver was also transported to a hospital in an unknown condition. No other details are available.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
