Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal accident and double hit-and-run. The incident is reported to have taken place early on Friday.
LSP reports that at around 3:30 AM, officers responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a motorized scooter in Jefferson Parish.
Preliminary investigations determined that a motorized scooter carrying two men was headed west in the center lane of the upper level of US90B near Ames Boulevard while a pickup truck was traveling behind.
For reasons unknown, the pickup truck struck the back of the scooter. This caused both people on the scooter to be ejected. The pickup truck did not stop.
Both unidentified people on the scooter were wearing helmets at the time but suffered fatal injuries.
Troopers continue to search for the driver of the pickup truck, which has been described as a white 2004 extended cab Ford F-150 with a silver toolbox in the bed.
