On Monday afternoon, two people lost their lives following a multi-vehicle wreck on U.S. 287 in Grand Prairie.
As per the initial information, the fatal four-vehicle pile-up took place between FM 661 and Prairie Ridge Road. The preliminary investigation indicated that the tractor-trailer was heading southbound on the highway when the truck driver was unable to slow down while approaching traffic blockage caused by construction. Just then, the truck smashed into three other vehicles.
The drivers of two of the other vehicles, both men, were declared dead by the officials. The identities of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. The occupants of the third vehicle remained unharmed. A section of the highway was shut down for several hours as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
