Two people received critical injuries after a wreck in North Hollywood.
As per the initial information, the crash involving five vehicles took place at around 4:10 a.m. on the southbound 101 Freeway, just south of Lankershim Boulevard. The early reports showed that one of the involved vehicles struck the center divider, and another ended up on its side.
At least one person was reported to be unresponsive at the scene. Two people were rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. The incident left several cars blocking all lanes, so a Sig alert was announced for four left lanes for an unknown duration.
One lane was reopened to traffic at around 6:30 a.m. The closure of so many lanes left traffic backed up all the way into the Hollywood Hills, and some desperate drivers were reported to be heading the wrong way at Barham Boulevard in order to get out of the traffic jam. No other information is available.
The wreck remains under review.
