Two people were injured after a motorcycle wreck Wednesday afternoon in Lucerne Valley.
As per the initial information, the three-vehicle accident took place at about 3:44 p.m. on State Route 18 and Milpas Drive. The preliminary reports showed that that the Camry was stopped and waiting to turn left onto Milpas when the riders going east failed to stop in time.
As a result, one of the motorcycles rear-ended the vehicle and possibly caused the other bike to go down. Authorities actively responded to the scene and, on arrival, found two motorcycles and two riders in the road. Both victims had critical injuries and responders called for two helicopters.
Both the riders were then airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. The three occupants from the involved vehicle, a white Toyota Camry, remained unharmed in the crash. The Highway 18 was closed down in both directions for about one hour while crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.
The wreck remains under investigation.
