2 people critically injured after a car goes off a cliff in San Francisco (San Francisco, CA)

Four people received injuries after a crash in the pre-dawn darkness Friday in San Francisco.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place near the famed Sutro Baths. The early reports showed that a car plunged approximately 120 feet (about 40 meters) off a San Francisco cliff.

Crews responded to the scene on reports of a wreck at 3 a.m. On arrival, they rescued and rushed the four victims to a hospital. Two of the people were critically injured and two were stable. The four patients were only identified as a 23-year-old man and three females ages 17, 19 and 22.

It was further reported that a dark sedan with its front end crashed into the sandy hillside near the bottom of the cliff on the western edge of San Francisco. The car came to a stop about 120 feet from the roadway above. No other details are available.

The cause of the crash remains under review.
