According to the news release by the California Highway Patrol’s Yuba-Sutter, a motor vehicle collision occurred on Sunday afternoon.
The officials stated that a 39-year-old Sacramento man was travelling with another man in a black 2003 Chevrolet Silverado on a private roadway near Highway 65 and Dairy Road at around 1 p.m.
The vehicle was moving eastbound and attempted to cross the tracks in front of a locomotive travelling northbound.
The locomotive signalled the vehicle multiple times but the Silverado failed to notice it.
The passenger and the driver were declared dead at the scene of the fatal crash.
The identities of the victims were not released by the officials.
No additional information regarding the crash was issued by the CHP Yuba-Sutter.
