2 girls in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash in Detroit (Detroit, MI)

On Monday, two girls suffered critical injuries following an auto-pedestrian collision in Detroit.

As per the initial information, the hit-and-run crash took place in Belle Isle. The early reports showed that a vehicle struck the victims, identified as 14-year-old and 12-year-old girls, for undetermined reasons. The driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene after the collision.

Belle Isle was shut down earlier for multiple hours due to the island reaching its maximum capacity number of vehicles.  After the crash, the Department of Natural Resources decided to close the entrance to the island. Officers are searching for the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle. No other details are made available.

The incident remains under active review.
