According to the news release by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, a multi-vehicle accident took place on Wednesday afternoon.
The officials stated that a red Dodge truck was traveling on Elk Chattaroy Road and failed to yield the right of way when attempting to turn east on Nelson Road. At the same time, a man was driving a Kia Niro north on Elk Chattaroy Road as well.
Both vehicles crashed at the intersection of Nelson Road.
Investigators reported that two minors were in the truck at the time of the crash.
The children were rushed to the hospital via helicopter with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Police stated that the driver of the Kia suffered minor injuries.
The identities of the victims involved in the crash were not released by the officials.
Police had to shut down the intersection for several hours while the investigation was carried on.
