19-year-old Vanderbilt man dead after a single-vehicle crash in Otsego County (Otsego County, MI)

A 19-year-old Vanderbilt man lost his life following a single-vehicle accident in Northern Michigan.

As per the initial information, officers immediately responded to the area on Whitmarsh Road near Cherwinski Road in Otsego County’s Dover Township at around 7:10 p.m. on Nov. 24 after getting reports of a rollover crash. The preliminary reports revealed that a 19-year-old Vanderbilt man was heading eastbound on Whitmarsh Road in a 2002 Buick when he tried to negotiate a curve and drove over the centerline.

The driver then failed to maintain control of the vehicle, entered the ditch, and flipped several times. On arrival, emergency crews rushed the driver to Otsego Memorial Hospital where he was later declared dead. Authorities believe that alcohol and speed were involved in the accident. No other details are available.

The crash remains under investigation.
