A 19-year-old man lost his life after getting struck by a semi-truck Sunday while he was walking along northbound Interstate 15.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place on I-15. The preliminary reports showed that the man was on the right shoulder of I-15 south of Carroll Canyon Road just after 5:30 a.m. At that point of time, he walked into the traffic lanes for undetermined reasons and was hit by a white Freightliner big rig. The man received major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner remained at the scene and spoke to the officers. The right lane of northbound I-15 was closed down for two-and-a-half hours during the investigation. A toxicology report also will be conducted to determine if drugs and alcohol were involved in the crash. No other information is available.
The incident remains under review.
