On Sunday, 19-year-old Justin Rodrigues, of Lemoore, died while 19-year-old Kenneth Rocca, of Hanford and 54-year-old Sandra Gastelum, of Santa Maria, suffered injuries following a two-vehicle collision in Cuesta Grade.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place on 101 Freeway at around 9:43 a.m. The preliminary investigation showed that Rodrigues was driving a southbound 2003 Nissan and Rocca was his passenger. At some point of time, Rodrigues failed to maintain control of his car and the vehicle went into the northbound lane where Gastelum was traveling in a 2019 Ford.
Just then, both vehicles crashed head-on into each other. Rodrigues succumbed to his injuries after the collision while Rocca and Gastelum both sustained major injuries. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
