Authorities identified 19-year-old Jesus Manuel Saldana, from Pauma Valley, as the man who was killed following a traffic collision Saturday in El Cajon.
The fatal single-vehicle crash took place on westbound I-8. The preliminary reports showed that Saldana lost control of the vehicle while driving at high speeds near Mollison Avenue. Saldana was driving on the right-hand shoulder when he failed to maintain control his car, exited the highway and slammed into a tree.
The vehicle came to a rest in an embankment. Saldana was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Saldana’s official cause of death was termed as multiple blunt force injuries. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
