19-year-old Hayleigh Mason dead after a vehicle slams into a tree near Springfield (Springfield, TN)

Authorities identified 19-year-old Hayleigh Mason as the teenager who lost her life after her vehicle crashed into a tree near Springfield.

The fatal single-vehicle crash took place on Owens Chapel Rd. According to the investigation reports, the vehicle went off the roadway and slammed into a tree with enough force that left the vehicle almost unrecognizable. The force of the collision nearly tore the vehicle in two.

There were two occupants in the vehicle, 19-year-old Hayleigh Mason and 18-year-old male. The woman suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The male was rushed to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville with critical injuries. Owens Chapel Rd was shut down for multiple hours as crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.
