17-year-old Juan Diaz dead after an auto-pedestrian crash in west Phoenix (Phoenix, AZ)

Authorities identified 17-year-old Juan Diaz as the teen who lost his life after getting struck by a car.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place near 61st Avenue and McDowell shortly after 9:30 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that a pickup truck traveling east on McDowell struck Juan Diaz, who was standing in the street.

Diaz succumbed to his injuries before he could be transported to the hospital. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene after the collision. Officers said that impairment was not involved in the accident. No other details are made available.

The crash remains under investigation.
