Authorities identified 17-year-old Jaylen Connish, of Carson, as the boy who lost his life after a crash Saturday in Downey that also caused injuries to two other males.

The fatal car accident took place at about 10:50 p.m. Saturday on the southbound Santa Ana Freeway, north of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway. The preliminary reports showed that the 2010 gray Nissan Altima driven by 17-year-old from Compton swerved to the right, struck a raised asphalt curb, went off the roadway and then crashed into a metal light pole.

All three males were taken to St. Francis Medical Center with major injuries and passenger Jaylen Connish was declared dead. The identity of the second passenger was not revealed because he was unconscious at the crash site and remained unconscious in the hospital. No other details are available.
