According to the Oceanside Police Department, a motor vehicle crash was reported on Monday in Oceanside.
Officials confirmed that one boy was seriously injured due to the hit-and-run accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred near 1200 North Harbor Drive.
The 17-year-old was struck by a vehicle. He was left unconscious on the road. He was later flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital.
The suspect 15-year-old boy sped from the scene after committing the wreck. He was however later located and detained by the police officials.
Other details including the identity of the victim and the vehicles involved remain unknown.
Alcohol was confirmed to be a cause of the wreck. The crash continues to be investigated by the OPD.
