17-year-old Coopersville boy hospitalized after a pickup struck a tree in Polkton Township (Polkton Township, MI)

A 17-year-old Coopersville boy received injuries after a pickup truck slammed into a tree Friday afternoon in Polkton Township.

The 17-year-old Coopersville boy went by ambulance to a Spectrum Health hospital in Grand Rapids with non-critical injuries. Authorities actively responded to the scene on Mill Road near Brucker Street in Polkton Township after getting reports of a single-vehicle crash.

The early reports showed that a 16-year-old Coopersville boy was driving, when he lost control of the pickup truck, which struck a tree. Both the boys were not buckled up at the time of the collision. The 16-year-old was not physically hurt.

Speed was considered to be involved in this crash. Polkton Township firefighters and Life EMS provided assistance to the deputies at the scene. No other details are available.

The accident remains under investigation.
