17-year-old boy dead after a single-car crash in Carmel Valley (San Diego, CA)

On Tuesday, a 17-year-old boy lost his life following a single-vehicle accident in Carmel Valley.

As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at about 3:15 p.m. in the 12900 block of Carmel Canyon Road. The preliminary investigation showed that a silver Lexus RX utility vehicle, driven by the teenager, made an unsafe movement to the right, collided with a curb and then a mature tree on a parkway on the east side of the street.

The teen suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.  According to the authorities, it is unclear if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are immediately available.

The incident remains under review.
