A 16-year-old boy suffered serious injuries following a high-speed crash in Saranac.
The single-vehicle accident took place in the 5900 block of West David Highway. The preliminary investigation showed that a driver was going westward at an accelerated speed when he traveled off the roadway and crashed into a tree. The teen was trapped in the vehicle due to the impact. On arrival, emergency personnel airlifted him to a nearby hospital through Aero-Med with life-threatening injuries.
According to the officials, speed and a lack of safety belt use contributed to the collision. The Saranac Fire and First Responders, Life Ambulance, Aero-Med, and Reed and Hoppes Towing provided assistance at the scene. No additional information has been provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
