11-year-old bicyclist injured after being hit by a vehicle in central Vancouver (Vancouver, WA)

On Wednesday evening, an 11-year-old child was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in central Vancouver.

As per the initial information, police actively responded to the area of 11120 S.E. 10th St. in the Ellsworth Springs neighborhood near Interstate 205 at 6:32 p.m. after receiving reports of a bicycle accident. An eyewitness informed police that the child rode into the street and was hit by a vehicle heading west.

On arrival, emergency responders rushed the victim to the hospital in critical condition. The driver stayed at the scene after the accident and did not seem to be impaired. No other details are available at this time.

The traffic unit is looking into this crash.
