A two-vehicle accident killed 1-year-old Legend Girard of San Jacinto and a 16-year-old while officers detained 18-year-old Logan Schell of Corona after a two-vehicle accident on Domenigoni Parkway.
The fatal incident took place at around 5:20 p.m. near Lindenberger Road. The early reports showed that a the juvenile’s Chevrolet Silverado truck and a Ford F-150 pickup were both westbound on Domenigoni Parkway when Schell’s Ford went out of its lane and struck the Chevrolet’s driver’s side.
The impact caused the Chevrolet’s driver to lose control and go over the center divider. The vehicle then flipped onto its side and the two children were ejected from the cab of the truck. Girard and the 16-year-old succumbed to their injuries at the crash scene. The driver of the Chevrolet incurred only minor injuries and refused treatment whereas two passengers in that truck were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Schell remained uninjured after the accident. He did not seem to be under the influence at the time of the collision. The authorities arrested Schell on suspicion of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Jail records revealed that he was cited and released.
An investigation continues.
