According to Lt. Justin Morouse, a motor vehicle accident took place on Friday night in Newport Beach dock.
The official stated that a woman drove her car into the water near Via Genoa and Vido Lido Nord at around 7:45 p.m.
The woman was not seriously injured in the crash but required immediate assistance stated the official.
According to the officials, the woman drove through a playground before reaching the dock.
One of the witnesses stated that the woman was driving at a high rate of speed.
Officials have arrested the driver for driving under the influence.
The identity of the victim was not released by the officials.
