The New Orleans Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning that claimed a life.
The crash occurred when a woman operating a disabled vehicle was struck by a car in the eastbound lanes.
The woman and the other driver were taken to the hospital. She was pronounced dead later. The adult driver sustained severe injuries and is in critical condition.
The eastbound lanes of the Twin Span heading into Orleans Parish were shut down for an hour following the crash.
The bridge was reopened later.
The identities of the victim will soon be released by the Orleans Parish Coroner.
