The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash on Thursday morning. The accident happened close to Imperial Highway at around 1:10 a.m. The collision involved two vehicles.
Both vehicles were severely damaged when they came to a stop up against the centre divider.
When police arrived on the scene, they found an unidentified woman who was unresponsive and not breathing, the officer said. She was declared dead at the scene by the officials.
The name and identity of the victim have not been made public yet by the authorities. The fatal crash is being investigated by the officials. The southbound 710 Motorway through South Gate was closed due to a fatal crash.
