1 person was killed after a pedestrian crash on Highway 101 (Petaluma, CA)

One person was killed following a traffic accident Friday on Highway 101.

As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian crash took place at about 11:51 a.m. just north of East Washington Street. The events that have led to the collision remain unknown at this time. The CHP shut down all southbound lanes and announced a Sig-alert at about 12:09 p.m.

Officials also blocked the onramps to southbound US 101 at Petaluma Boulevard North and Old Redwood Highway. The incident led to traffic congestion and backups. The road closure ended just after 2 p.m. No other information is available.

An investigation is underway.
