1 person seriously injured after their vehicle rear-ended a public works truck in Walnut Creek (Walnut Creek, CA)

On Wednesday morning, one person suffered serious injuries following a rear-end crash in Walnut Creek.

As per the initial information, the traffic collision took place at about 8:30 a.m. on eastbound Ygnacio Valley Road between Oak Grove and Cowell roads. The preliminary reports showed that a vehicle hit the rear of a parked public works truck while workers were doing improvements to the road.

On arrival, medical personnel rushed the driver to the hospital with serious injuries. The incident did not lead to any other injuries. The roadway was shut down for hours as crews worked at the scene. It was back open at approximately 11:30 a.m. No other details are immediately available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
