According to the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian accident was reported on Saturday evening.
The crash occurred on the westbound lanes of I-580 at around 9:15 p.m.
According to the Highway Patrol spokeswoman, the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle just west of Highway 24.
The officials stated that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP has notified the next of kin.
The identity of the pedestrian was not revealed by the police.
The officials are investigating whether drugs, alcohol, distracted driving, or speed played a factor in the crash.
