The Bakersfield Police Department reported a pedestrian accident on Friday. The accident occurred at the intersection of Hageman Road and Mohawk Street at around 12:15 a.m.
According to the officials, a man was walking outside of the crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle that was headed west on Hageman Road. Kern County Fire and Hall Ambulance reported to the scene after the authorities were called.
The man was critically injured and life-saving measures were attempted upon him. They were not successful and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is not yet known at this time.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available.
