According to the California Highway Patrol, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Bakersfield on Tuesday.
The crash happened on South Mount Vernon Avenue near East Belle Terrace at around 5:44 p.m.
According to the reports, two unknown vehicles were involved in the collision. One of the vehicles was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and veered into oncoming traffic. According to the Police, the unknown vehicle collided head-on with the other vehicle.
The officials stated that one of the people suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bakersfield Police Department did not reveal the identity and the name of the unknown deceased person.
