1 Person Killed In A Motor Vehicle Collision In Long Beach (Long Beach, CA)

The Long Beach Police Department stated that on Sunday a motor vehicle collision involving a car and an ambulance took place in Long Beach. This collision killed a female passenger. 

Approximately at 2: 10 a.m., a 2018 Honda Civic rear-ended a Long Beach Fire Department BLS unit on the northbound 710 Freeway, Seventeenth Street. 27-year-old Christian Castillas, the driver of the Honda was taken to the hospital with mild injuries. A woman passenger inside the car was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Later, Castillas was arrested for DUI and felony vehicular manslaughter. 

The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. Alcohol or drugs did play a role in the collision. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated.
