According to the California Highway Patrol, one person was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Discovery Bay on Thursday. The accident occurred on State Route 4 near the westbound lanes of the highway, near Newport Drive.
Approximately at 11:40 p.m., a person and a vehicle were involved in a collision. The person was struck by a vehicle but the events leading up to this crash are not clear at this time. The vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene.
The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
