According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Thursday morning in Livermore. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the multi-vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred eastbound on Highway 580, at First Street. A Ford Mustang initially rear-ended a Ford F-350 pickup truck.
Subsequently, a Chevrolet pickup truck travelled over the speed limit. When the driver of the pickup switched lanes and saw the Mustang ahead, he was unable to break.
This resulted in the truck crashing into the passenger door in the right front of the Mustang. The rear of the Chevy was struck by a Ford Expedition.
The driver of the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The driver of the Chevy sustained injuries.
Other information pertaining to the collision including the identity of the deceased remains unknown. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
