1 person killed, another person seriously injured after an auto-pedestrian crash in south Austin (Austin, TX)

On Monday, one person was killed after being hit by a vehicle in south Austin.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place near 6000 S. I-35 service road southbound at about 8:46 a.m. That is just south of Stassney Lane before William Cannon Drive. The early reports showed that one vehicle flipped over and struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The person in the vehicle was trapped and was extricated by the emergency responders. They were rushed to the hospital with potentially serious injuries.

All lanes of the frontage road between Stassney and William Cannon were shut down as crews worked at the scene. Traffic was directed west on Little Texas Lane. The scene has since been cleared, officials said. No other details are made available.

The incident remains under review.
