On early Thursday morning, one person died while another was injured following an 18-wheeler vs. car collision on the city’s Southeast Side.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at about 12:20 a.m. on Interstate 37 South, between Highway 181 and Donop Road. The early reports showed that a Nissan Rogue carrying a driver and a passenger crashed into an 18-wheeler, sending the big rig into the northbound lanes and the SUV into the median.
One of the occupants of the Nissan Rogue suffered major injuries and was declared dead by the officials. The other was rushed to Brooke Army Medical Center with critical injuries. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. The highway was closed in both directions as crews worked to clear the scene, but it has since reopened. Multiple agencies answered the call. No other details are available.
The crash remains under investigation.
