1 person killed after being hit by a train on tracks in Santa Clarita (Santa Clarita, CA)

One person died after getting hit by a train Thursday morning at a Newhall railroad crossing in Santa Clarita.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the area near 13th Street and Railroad Avenue in Newhall after getting reports of a pedestrian crash at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The crossing at 13th Street and Railroad Avenue is expected to remain blocked pending during the investigation.

An alternative route via Placerita Canyon from Sierra Highway has been opened to allow access to the north side of the tracks. The Metrolink Antelope Valley Line 212 to Los Angeles has been delayed for an unknown duration due to the accident. Metrolink is working on alternative transportation for passengers on the AV Line. No other information is available.

The incident remains under review.
