1 person killed after an auto-pedestrian crash on I-85 southbound near Lenox/Cheshire Bridge roads (Atlanta, GA)

A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 85 southbound before Lenox Road and Cheshire Bridge Road.

As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian accident was reported at 9:23 p.m. The early reports indicated that a male pedestrian lost his life as a result of the collision. The driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene after the incident.

Lane closures remain in place. Authorities urged drivers to use caution and find alternate routes if possible. As of now, it is unknown why the pedestrian was on the freeway. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.

The incident remains under review.
