1 person killed after an auto-pedestrian collision on 5 Freeway (Los Angeles, CA)

One person was killed after being hit by a vehicle on the 5 Freeway HOV lane Wednesday morning, resulting in the closure of two lanes.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the 5 South Freeway, just north of the Los Feliz Boulevard exit in the greater Hollywood area of Los Angeles at around 6:15 a.m. after getting reports of a pedestrian crash. On arrival, responders found a person down in the HOV lane unconscious. The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities blocked the #1 and #2 lanes during the investigation. A SigAlert was announced for approximately an hour. It is unknown why the pedestrian was on the freeway. A Los Angeles Coroner Investigator also arrived at the location to process the scene. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
