One person was killed following a wrong-way collision near Wapato.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place on Eastbound I-82. The early reports showed that an SUV was going in the wrong direction on Eastbound I-82 when it slammed into a white car. On arrival, emergency crews rushed the driver of the SUV to the hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the other vehicle succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Both the victims were the sole occupants of the vehicles. The identities of the victims have not been revealed at this time. The Department of Transportation shut down the interstate at exit 44 near Wapato for at least two to three hours as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
