On Monday, a man lost his life when his car went off the roadway, crossed an embankment and slammed into a parked vehicle in Bloomfield Township.
As per the initial information, the fatal traffic collision took place at about 10 a.m. in the area of Telegraph and Maple roads. The early reports showed that a driver was traveling south on Telegraph Road when he failed to maintain control of the vehicle south of Maple Road.
The car drifted to the right, ran off the roadway and went over the embankment between Telegraph Road and the Bloomfield Plaza parking lot. The car then crashed into a parked car in the lot before coming to a stop. On arrival, emergency personnel rushed the driver to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Officers reported that the occupant of the parked car remained unharmed in the accident. Officials believe that drugs or alcohol were not involved in the crash. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
