On Thursday, one person was killed after the vehicle they were riding in flipped off Loop 410 on South Side.
As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place before 5:30 a.m. at Southeast Loop 410 at South Presa Street on the city’s South Side. The early reports showed that the vehicle, probably a pickup truck, flipped off the elevated highway and fell on its roof onto some train tracks below the highway.
Officials confirmed that one person died as a result of the crash. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. It is unknown if anyone else suffered injuries as a result of the accident. As of 7 a.m., the southbound Loop 410 frontage road was shut down but the main lanes remained open. No other details are available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
