On Thursday, one person died following a multi-vehicle wreck in Elko.
As per the initial information, the fatal four-vehicle pile-up took place at 10:57 p.m. on Interstate 80. The preliminary investigation indicated that an SUV hit the back of a big rig going westbound on Emigrant Pass. The SUV driver succumbed to their injuries as a result of the collision.
The semi was blocking both westbound lanes when two other vehicles crashed into guardrails while trying to avoid the semi-truck. Emergency personnel transported multiple people to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital in unknown condition. The people involved in the secondary crashes remained unharmed. No other details are available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
