1 person killed after a bicycle crash in Las Vegas; 26-year-old Raymond Perez-Hernandez arrested (Las Vegas, NV)

On Friday night, one person was killed following a two-vehicle accident in Las Vegas while officers arrested 26-year-old Raymond Perez-Hernandez for driving under the influence.

The fatal bicycle crash took place at about 9:23 p.m. on N. Las Vegas Boulevard near the Pecos Road intersection. According to the investigation reports, a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard whereas a bicyclist was riding on the east sidewalk.

For unknown reasons, the driver of the Cobalt failed to maintain its lane and swerved off the road, hitting the bicyclist. The bicycle rider was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will reveal the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.

The driver of the Cobalt, identified as 26-year-old Raymond Perez-Hernandez, was provided medical aid at the hospital for minimal injuries. Perez-Hernandez was detained on DUI-related charges. No other details are made available.

An investigation continues.
