The Police department reported a motor vehicle crash in Penn Township on Tuesday.
The accident happened near Lewis Lake, west on Donnell Lake Street at around 6 a.m, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Janelle Gazi, a 22-year-old resident of Vandalia, claimed that she had spotted an animal in the road and swerved to avoid it before running off the road and hitting a sizable tree.
Gazi was injured in the crash and taken to Borgess Lee Hospital.
Officials confirmed that drugs or alcohol was not a factor involved and also she was wearing a seatbelt.
