1 person injured after a semi-truck crash in Chattanooga (Chattanooga, TN)

On Tuesday morning, one person suffered injuries and hundreds of chickens were killed following a semi-truck crash in Chattanooga.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle wreck took place at about 1 p.m. on Interstate 24. The early reports revealed that a semi-truck carrying hundreds of chickens slammed into a guardrail and rolled over the median.

The driver was pinned in the cab and it took approximately 90 minutes to extricate him. The man suffered non-life-threatening as a result of the crash. The chickens were thrown all over the road due to the accident. Most of the chickens died and were spread over the highway.

A few chickens reportedly survived. A crew from the poultry processing company responded to the scene to save the live chickens and assist crews to clean up the area. The other drivers called 911 for help and some of them stopped their cars and attempted to free the man from the truck. No other details are available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
