1 person injured after a motorcycle crash near Martin (Martin, MI)

On Saturday, a motorcycle accident left one person with serious injuries near Martin.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place at about 7:30 p.m. on 9 Mile Road, close to Marsh Road in Orangeville Township. A 28-year-old man from Portage was going eastbound when he failed to maintain control of his motorcycle. The vehicle drifted off the roadway, throwing the rider from the motorcycle as a result of which the man struck a tree.

On arrival, responders found the victim unresponsive and they began to perform CPR on the patient. The man was then airlifted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. According to the officials, the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Alcohol seems to be involved in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
