1 person injured after a garbage truck crashes into buildings and utility poles in Shreveport (Shreveport, LA)

On Tuesday morning, one person suffered injuries after a traffic collision in Shreveport.

The single-vehicle crash took place near the intersection of E. 70th Street and Line Avenue at about 11 a.m. The early reports revealed that the driver of a garbage truck failed to maintain control of the vehicle and slammed into multiple buildings, vehicles, and utility poles. The truck ended up by an abandoned building.

According to a witness, the truck seemed to be trying to avoid hitting the buildings, but appeared to lose the ability to brake or steer. On arrival, emergency personnel transported the driver to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. East 70th was shut down between Line and Fairfield and will remain blocked until electric lines are repaired. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
