1 person in critical condition following a traffic collision in Midtown (Memphis, TN)

One person was hospitalized in critical condition after a wreck in Midtown.

As per the initial information, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Cooper Street and Elzey Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. on reports of a traffic collision. The preliminary reports showed that two cars crashed into each other and one slammed into a building near Cooper and Elzey.

On arrival, medical personnel rushed one person to the hospital with critical injuries. Michelle McMillen, who runs Oorthoon’s gift shop next to where the accident occurred, informed that several men were speeding down Cooper when they collided with a vehicle that was turning left on Elzey.

She added that the men in the speeding vehicle came out of the car after the collision and started running. They were captured by the officers after a foot chase. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
